Rajasthan intelligence officials said on Tuesday that they had officially arrested Shakur Khan of 49 -year -old Jaisalmer on espionage charges. Khan was detained a few days ago on suspicion of espionage for Pakistan.
According to the FIR, Khan was saved several Pakistani mobile phone numbers on his iPhone and was reportedly in touch with these numbers, including audio and video calls through WhatsApp chat. He has also been accused of strategically important videos and images, which were found to be removed with these numbers.
Inspector General of Police, Security, Vishnu Kant said that Khan’s activities were suspected for a while, and were being closely monitored. The IG said that “during monitoring, it was found that Khan was in constant touch with some people working in the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, especially Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, and Sohail Qamar.”
Last month, the intelligence agencies suspected Pakistan’s embassy employee Danish to cultivate a network of detectives-a 33-year-old journey from Haryana, Vologer Jyoti Rani Malhotra-who was landed in Malecotla in early May after two arrests by police. Danish was declared a personality non -Grata after accusing Danish of espionating by the Government of India of espionage. He was also asked to leave India immediately.
Officials in Jaipur said that during the investigation, it was found that Khan received a Pakistani visa several times with the help of Danish and traveled to the country. While living in Pakistan, Khan is accused of contacting agents of the Pakistani Intelligence Agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). It is alleged that he used to return to India as per ISI’s instructions and collected information about strategic importance and sent it to Pakistan through means like WhatsApp. With the help of Danish, he also helped other people in obtaining visas for Pakistan.

The IG said, “It was a serious security violation, because due to his situation, he could reach a lot of sensitive information,” Khan’s functions fall under the official Secrets Act, 1923, and that a case has been registered for the same.
Khan had three mobile phones, which were confiscated and sent for technical analysis. According to officials, the phone had “many photos and videos of strategic importance,”, who was reportedly shared with his handlers, whose name he rescued in his phone as Haji Wali Mohammad Darsh.

Khan, a native of Mangalione of Mangalion of Jaipur, was questioned in detail by intelligence agencies at the Central Inquiry Center in Jaipur. Earlier, his association with a former Congress minister created a ruckus, in which BJP leaders also demanded an inquiry into the minister.
