On Tuesday, a person died after beating a mob after injuring a worker in a tea plantation in Kailashahar in Unakoti district of Tripura. The deceased was identified as 30 -year -old Pradeep Das, who was a resident of Ratiabari area under Kumarghat in the district.
The police quoted the local people as saying that three people were seen trying to snatch some goats from the roadside in their vehicle, after which some local people followed them. Some other people, equipped with sticks, came in front of the vehicle to stop them. Trying to escape from the spot, the vehicle hit a tea garden worker and he fell into a concrete road drain.
Soon, the other person of the vehicle, who is identified as Nirmal Das, hid inside the tea plantation. Before Pradeep would hide, an angry mob allegedly killed him and later set the vehicle on fire.
“A case of murder will be registered. Another section will be included to set the vehicle on fire. One of the co-riders is with the Kailashahar police. The other co-owner survived the spot and is known to be safe. We have started our investigation,” said an official of the Kailashahar police station.
Nirmal Das while talking to reporters said that there were friends of the vehicle. He said, “The vehicle was growing rapidly and he (Pradeep) killed two cows parked on the road and he (Irite mob) killed him,” he said.
