Sources in the Ministry of Environment said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Aravalli Green Wall Project of the Center, to identify the World Environment Day on 5 June, to identify World Environment Day, to restore the humiliated land in four states.
Sources said that Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will join the PM to plant a tree in the ridge area of Delhi. Sources said that the Chief Ministers of Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat will also plant trees in their states.
The Bhoomi Restoration Project was initially launched in 2023, and the ministry recently launched a detailed action plan for the project.

Sources in the ministry said that the project will also contribute to the completion of India’s major climate goals of creating carbon sinks in addition to 2.5 to 3 billion tons of carbon dioxide through improvement in tree and forest cover. India has also committed to restore the decline of 26 million hectares by 2030.
The 700 km long Aravalli mountain range from South-West Gujarat to Northeast Delhi and Haryana in Champaner serves as a natural obstacle against the avatar of sand and dust from the Thar Desert. It supports rivers like Luni, Banas, Sabarmati, as well as caston wildlife such as tiger, beer, volves and leopards. However, the border is facing a widespread decline due to deforestation, mining, urbanization, agricultural practices and development.
