'Suspicious political link' with 13 Bangladeshis held in West Tripura. Bharat News

Police said on Wednesday that thirteen Bangladeshi citizens including two women were detained from Hapania on the outskirts of Agartala in West Tripura district, on suspicion that they had illegally entered India, police said on Wednesday.

After a long interrogation by police and security agencies, they were handed over to the Mobile Task Force.

In the initial investigation, it was found that he illegally crossed the international border through Raishibari in Dhalai district. Some men had straps on the feet of Bangladeshis.

According to sources, he was suspected of having a relationship with Parbati Chatgram Jan Samhti Committee (PCJSS), a political group of Chittagong Hill Tracts in Bangladesh. He allegedly traveled more than 170 km from the border to receive medical treatment in Agartla. However, there is no official statement about his political identity.

In January, the police arrested an illegal firearms, ammunition, and a Bangladeshi National in the possession of Indian and Bengali currency notes from the Milanchak region of Tripura capital.

Tripura shares an 856 km long border with Bangladesh, most of which is covered with thorny-wire fence, leaving some patch.
