Protests took place at Imphal on Saturday night following the report of alleged custody of a member of the Meitei organization Arambai Tengol by security forces.
Sources said the Arambai Teengol leader, who was identified as Kanan Singh, was reportedly detained from the Quethel region on Saturday evening.
The protesters tortured tires and blocked roads in various parts of Ufim Road and demanded Singh’s release, including Uripok in the Imphal West District.
There were also conflicts between security forces and protesters in the Quakethel region, injuring several protesters.
