A day after the protest of the leader in the Lok Sabha, the Lok Sabha was called from the Election Commission (EC) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to respond to his allegations of irregularities in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, the sources in the pole body said on Sunday that the Congress MP had not written him or asked for a meeting till now and the commission replied that when he does.
In Opinion for The Indian Express On Saturday, Gandhi said that the total voters in Maharashtra had seen a major jump between the 2024 Lok Sabha and the assembly elections compared to the 2019 and 2024 assembly elections. He alleged that most of the additional voters were in 85 constituencies, where the BJP did not do well in the Lok Sabha elections. He also claimed “match-fixing” of Maharashtra elections. In response, EC sources denied the allegations on Saturday, however, the Commission remains to be issued a statement.
In response, Gandhi posted on X on Saturday: “Dear EC, you are a constitutional body. Introducing the non -agitated, intelligent notes for the mediat is not the way to answer serious questions. If you have nothing to hide, 5pm CCTV footage from Maharashtra polling booths.
On Sunday, EC sources said that Gandhi had to raise his concerns by writing to the pole body or demanding a meeting. EC sources said that Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar had invited the Congress on 15 May as a part of the initiative to meet all six national parties in February, but the party asked to resolve it. Meanwhile, EC has held its meetings with the remaining five national parties.
“According to the process, this is public knowledge and everyone knows that any constitutional body including ECI, will formally answer only when Mr. Rahul Gandhi writes to him. It is very complicated that on one hand Mr. Rahul Gandhi says that the issues being raised by him are very serious, but when they come to the Election Commission to pen in black and white, he said that he said that an EC source said that he said.

On the demand for CCTV footage, the source informed that the Election Petition filed to challenge any election was available by the competent High Court for investigation. According to the source, this process was adopted to protect the integrity of elections and the confidentiality of voters.
