Internet services were taken away and closed at Central Valley in Manipur on Sunday at Central Valley in Manipur, as Arambai Tenggol, a leader of a CBI leader, was protested overnight after the arrest.
Arambai Tenggol’s self-style “Army Chief” Asem Kanan Singh was detained on Saturday evening along with four other members of the outfit by security forces from Quakethel region in Imphal West. In response, Arambai Teengol announced a 10-day “total shutdown”.
The CBI said in a statement that it arrested ASEM at the Imphal Airport on its participation in various criminal activities related to the Manipur violence in 2023 and was taken to Guwahati in connection with the investigation.
“It can be remembered that the CBI is investigating Manipur violence Cases according to the direction of India’s Honorable Supreme Court. In view of the law and order situation in Manipur, the test of cases of Manipur violence has been transferred from Manipur to Guwahati. The said arrested member of Arabian Teengol has been brought from Imphal to Guwahati and will be produced before the competent court for police remand. The investigation is on, “the CBI said.
According to officials, ASEM was also allegedly involved in the abduction of an additional SP of Imphal West from his home in February 2024.

On Saturday night, as the news of spreading in custody spreads, protests were protested with the protesters to torture tires and block roads in various parts of Imphal City. There were also conflicts between security forces and protesters in the Quakethel region, injuring several protesters.
Internet and mobile data services, including Vsat and VPN services, were suspended through an order issued by the Manipur Home Commissioner N Ashok Kumar in the districts of Imphal East and West, Kakinging, Thubal and Bishanupur in early Sundays.

The order cited the apprehension that “some anti -social elements can use social media to broadcast images, abusive language and hate video messages, which are for provoking public passion, which may have serious consequences for law and order situation in the state of Manipur.”
Internet services were finalized in these districts in September last year after protests after a renewed increase in violence in the state.
Following the latest protests, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of BNS were imposed in the valley districts, stating that “the possibility of serious violations of peace, disturbances for public peace, riots or riots disturbances in the region, and serious threats due to human life and human life and properties.” In Bishanupur district, a total curfew was imposed from 11 am on 7 June.
Meanwhile, the Center is expected to interact with one of the cookie-zo groups under the suspension of the Operation (SOO) agreement with the government on Monday. The meeting will be held on North East AK Mishra with an MHA advisor.

Sources said that the meeting will largely focus on how to carry forward the talks and discuss ways to reach a framework. On Sunday, despite heavy deployment of security forces including the army in and around Imphal City, protesters implemented road barriers in many areas. In Keshampat of Imphal West District, a 13 -year -old boy was hurt when a tear gas shell, which was reportedly fired by security forces, exploded.
In addition, on Sunday, a all-political party delegation included 26 MLAs and Rajya Sabha MP Leshamba Sanajoba, who met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla. Congress MLA Okram Surajkumar said that the delegates requested the governor to make public the reason behind the arrest of the Arabian Tenggol leader. “The governor clarified that the AT leader was arrested in connection with the case related to the CBI. However, four other members arrested with the leader are subject to verification and will be released after the verification process ends,” Surjkumar said.
Meanwhile, the NIA said in a statement that it arrested two more rebels in connection with an attack on an IRB post of Moripur border city of More in January 2024, in which two police personnel were killed, taking the total arrest in the case to three.
