A person fighting forest fire in J-K Rajouri killed India news

Officials said on Wednesday that a 68-year-old man was burnt while trying to control a forest fire in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said Abdul Aziz, a retired government teacher from Panda Khatar village of Delliot Panchayat, voluntarily joined a team of forest officials to extinguish the fire in Garan Forest in Calcot Sub-Division on Tuesday.

While the forest fire was largely controlled by late evening, Aziz deepened to oversee the situation when he found that she was stuck with the winds, ignoring herself again, he said. He said that despite efforts, he cannot be saved and died on the spot.

Officials said his body was later recovered and handed over to his family for the funeral after the completion of legal formalities.
