Tripura’s Statistics Minister Bikas Debarma on Wednesday emphasized the need to adopt Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various fields of governance including statistics and policy-making.
Addressing the Vailadytize program of the ‘Generic AI for Impact: Smart Tools for Horoscope Governance’, Deberma urged the concerned departments to make digital changes and make them champions.
The minister conducted the trainees and trainers at the information technology building in Augustla in a workshop organized by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the State Government.
The workshop briefly highlighted the hand on AI-driven drafting, forecasting with python and data interpretation.
More than 60 officers of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics and the Union Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation (MOSPI), NK Santoshi, Director General, Central Statistics, Mospei; Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary, Planning (Statistics), Tripura; And Anil Digambar Patil, Deputy Director General, NSO, participated in the workshop.

Santoshi praised the Directorate for emphasizing capacity building during the Global AI Revolution.
Chandra said that AI is not only an ad-on skill, but a main governance tool and mentioned that the purpose of Tripura is to attract officials of other states for AI training in future.

Earlier in the day, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha had urged people to adopt AI in the new era of technology at a separate ceremony. He was speaking at an event organized to distribute appointment letters to 184 newly recruited junior engineers under the Public Works Department (PWD).
