In March this year, a writ petition was filed in the Jharkhand High Court in March, alleging that Hasina’s neighbors set their home on fire in February 2024, after which they had to go to the roof of their restaurant. It was also said that the accused of the acid attack known as Manish Kumar attacked him on the roof, the victims were taken to the dengue ward to the palace sub-division hospital instead of the Burns Ward. Meanwhile, a case continues in a lower court since 8 July last year – based on an FIR filed by Hasina’s brother Alam, which was a victim of acid attacks in April 2024 under IPC section 341, 450, 326 (A), 504 and 34 in April 2024.
The first hearing in the lower court case was held on August 17 last year, the next hearing was scheduled for June 19, 2025. The FI also named two neighbors as accused.
Why the attack took place, its conflicting accounts. Hasina says the objective was a land dispute: “They wanted my land. When I refused, they tried to kill me.”

Hasina denied any relationship and alleged that the factory was worked in Manish who was owned by her neighbor’s brother. She says she harassed her and once took her and her daughters to Papipat under false pretense. He also questioned how acid was accessible in the factory.
