After being dull from May 29 to 17 days, the South -West monsoon moved forward in parts of Central and Eastern India on Monday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, saying that rains in East and South India will increase this week.

Weather Bureau said that the monsoon is now passing through Verival, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Khargon, Amravati, Durg Bargarh, Chandbali, Sandhead Island and Balurghat.

With the latest advances in more areas of Maharashtra, Gujarat, South-West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Sub-Himmiman West Bengal and Sikkim, all the early monsoon seen in the season has returned to their general program.

This year, the monsoon over Kerala began on May 24 eight days before its normal date. The monsoon then continued early progress in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Northeast India.

In North India, heat relief is the forecast of this week as thunderstorms, light to moderate intensity rains will affect eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. The maximum temperature in mid and north -western India this week is expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

As of June 16, the All India Rainfall for June is 31 percent decrease.
