Shambu Malkar, a resident of Haripur in Hrishyamukh, gave the child to Gaurango Shil, when she was 18 days old, who was allegedly due to poverty.
After receiving information about the incident, Deputy Collector and Magistrate Sukanta Dey, Block Development Officer, and a team members of the child line went to Gaurango Shil’s house and rescued the child.
“We visited the residence of Gaurango Shil and found the child. When asked about the child, he claimed that he had got a child from the Shambu Malkar, but refused to give money in return. We also visited Shamhu Malkar’s house and claimed that he had three children and hence he gave the child to adopt.”
However, the Deputy Collector and Magistrate said that the parents did not follow the legal adoption process and two families were produced before a child welfare committee on Wednesday.
When contacted, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Chairman Roopak Mazumar said the girl was sent with her mother. He said, “Both were re -produced before CWC today. As the mother’s mother wanted to take her back home, we gave her to the child.”
