A 27 -year -old man faced severe jealousy after her aunt allegedly thrown acid on her, which she suspected of being a thief in Dharmanagar in North Tripura district.
The injured person, known as Sushant Debnath, is a resident of Anandbazar in Dharamanagar.
Talking to reporters, Sushant said the incident occurred on the night of 27 May, when he heard some voice, his mother Chacha, who also entered his neighbor’s house.
“I heard some noise and went there, but didn’t see anything. My mother’s uncle asked if I had come to steal anything. My aunt threw acid on me. My younger brother later took me to the district hospital, from where I was sent to GBP Hospital (Agartala),” he said.
Police said two cases were registered in connection with the incident – Sushant’s uncle Jitendra Nath and Aunty Kajali Nath and others to enter their house late at night at night.
An official of the Dharmanagar police station said on Wednesday, “We are interrogating the matter. We will take action on the basis of evidence.”
