A day after the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar, former Rajya Sabha chairman also, Vice President Harivansh presided over the proceedings in the upper house on Tuesday as it saw repeated adjournment.
As soon as the session was convened on Tuesday morning, the chair announced, “The incident of vacancy in the office of the Honorable Vice President is envisaged in the Constitution. As and when there is communication in relation to the constitutional process, the same will be shared.” The Rajya Sabha was then postponed till noon amid an uproar by opposition MPs.
As soon as this at 12 noon, with Ghansham Tiwari on the chair, he said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs has notified a notification on July 22, has expressed the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar under Article 67A of the Constitution with immediate effect.” Even the time of question was to be ensured after this, the house was postponed by 2 pm.
Soon after, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X, “Mr. Jagdeep Dhikra ji has received many opportunities to serve our country in various capabilities as the vice -president of India. He wishes for good health.”
In an amazing late development development, Vice President Dhanker announced on Monday that he has moved from his post to two years with two years to leave for his five -year tenure, citing health concerns with two years. His resignation addressed to President Draupadi Murmu was with immediate effect.
Earlier this year, Dhankhar was admitted to the hospital after complaining of restlessness, and had to undergo a process. But since then, he participated in programs across the country along with his official duties at home.
Opening the monsoon session on Monday, he urged the members in party lines to reduce the sharp. “While political parties can follow the same goals through different approaches, no one in India oppose the interests of the nation … Dialogue and discussion, not struggle, is not the way forward.”
In his resignation letter, Dhankhar thanked the President for his “unwavering support” and “soothing, amazing working relationship”. He thanked PM Modi and Union Council of Ministers for his “invaluable support” and wrote that the warmth and affection shown by the members of Parliament “would be inherent in my memory”.
