After Operation Sindor, the latest crowd on the Trademark Registry is on June 12 to claim a monopoly on various Wordmarks related to the Ahmedabad Air India plane accident, killing 260 people.
On 14 June, two days after the Boeing 787β8 Dreamliner, working as AI171 of Air India from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed immediately after the take-off, a trademark application for ‘Flight 171’ was filed by a practicing chartered accountant for ‘Flight 171’. Deepanshu Aggarwal demanded a trademark registration in his favor under classmark for the use of Wordmark in areas such as entertainment, film production, cultural activities and web chain production.
A trademark gives its owner the right to give a monopoly to the name for films and TV shows in other forms of content. Section 11 of the Trademark Act also states that the trademark will be provided for first or first to file for registration.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Aggarwal said, “We have not filed for ‘AI 171’ Wordmark as Air India or the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) can claim rights on this, and we have weighed all professionals and opposition. We do not want to use it for business objectives. Many people do not want to lose their lives. ,
Aggarwal said that a part of the earnings from the use of trademarks, if their application is allowed, will go as contribution to the families of the aircraft accident. He said, “We are already interacting with some big companies for filmmaking and educational institutions. Hopefully in a month, the deal will come out. We do not want to play with the feelings of the victims,” ββhe said.
On 15 June, Aggarwal filed another trademark application, seeking rights over ‘Seat 11A’, which is also under class 41. Vishwashkumar Ramesh, the only surprise at Ahmedabad Air India Plain Crash, was seated at 11A.
Aggarwal said, “In the last airplane accidents, the principle is that seat 11A is a miracle seat. We have the first proposer benefits here.”
