After the information, minutes came that a London-bound Air India flight has crashed Shortly after the takeoff, the CRPF battalion in Ahmedabad immediately coordinated with all the nearby battalions and asked them to reach the accident site to start assistance in rescue operations.
Around 700 personnel of paramilitary forces and six teams of NDRF reached the accident site and joined hands with the local administration to recover the bodies.
CRPF has deployed about 150 personnel, including 90 from Rapid Action Force (RPF) to assist in rescue operations. A CRPF spokesperson said, “Troops from 100 Battalion of RAF, Group Center in Gandhinagar and Women’s Battalion along with personnel of CRPF, have been sent to the accident site to support efforts on the field. Troubles are involved in rescue operations.”
“I was in my office, was located about 40 minutes away from the accident site, when I saw the news of an aircraft accident near our office. Without wasting at some time, I started coordinating with my seniors and directed to be ready for rescue operations with our 25 Jawans of Quick Action Team as well as our medical staff,” Commandant (CRPF) told Vijay Verma.
“At the accident site, ruled the dense smoke and chaos. We first closed the area to control the law and order situation as the locals started gathering at the accident site. During the rescue operations, we also saw the bodies and locals of all the passengers where the plane crashed,” he said.

Six teams of NDRF, 67 border security forces (BSF) personnel were also deployed from two teams, Central Industrial Security Force (CIFF).
“Asg Ahmedabad Unity of CISF Numbering of 400, including all off -duty personnel, QRT, office duty personnel, immediately reached the location that was outside the wall of the periphery to contribute to the search and rescue operations with the protection of the aircraft for post incidence check.”
