Talking to reporters on his return from Delhi after a conversation with the Central BJP leadership, former Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Wednesday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah agrees to the need for “a popular government” in the state.
Biren Singh said, “In relation to the wishes of the people for a popular government, he said (Shah) that the central leaders also want the same. However, he said that the matter would soon be discussed on the basis of developing situation in the state,” Biran Singh said that he had informed the minister on “excited” circumstances.
Manipur is under President’s rule from 13 February. Recently, 23 BJP MLAs (out of 37 of the party, and except all seven cookie MLAs) issued a statement saying that “he resolved to separate personal ambitions” in the “big interest” of working towards the formation of a popular government in the state “. He included both of them in protest against Biren and who supported him through pressure to remove it.
Since then, Manipur has seen a fresh bounce of violence after the CBI’s action against a self -proclaimed leader of the radical Metei outfit Arambai Teengol. To brighten the leadership on the situation in the state, Rajya Sabha MP Lesamba left for Delhi on Monday for Delhi.
Biren said that he met twice, twice, two hours of meeting late on Monday night and another 45 -minute meeting of 45 minutes on Tuesday afternoon. He said, “We discussed the threadeber on the issues facing the state and also informed him of the growing situation in Manipur,” he said.
“He (Shah) has given us some ground responsibilities, which I cannot tell at this time,” said Beeren.
The BJP leader said that Shah is having several rounds of rounds with various communities to address the crisis, and appealed to all to maintain peace. He also said that the Center is committed to maintaining the “regional integrity” of Manipur; The demand for a major cookie is a separate autonomous region for the community.
The former CM said that the issue of “illegal migrants” also came to light, and he requested a 30 -day expansion to detect them.
