An ABVP member, a self-defense teacher for women in his college, a student, who tried to find a balance between studies and additional activities-The woman who died after setting herself on fire at a university in Balasore, Odisha, dreamed for the future, her family and friends said.
The student complained to his institute on 1 July, alleging that he was subject to mental harassment by an assistant professor when he rejected his progress. He also filed a police complaint in this regard. The accused professor and the principal of the college were suspended and arrested after setting fire to the campus on Saturday.
The accused professor, who investigated the case of students, teachers and officials, allegedly moved out of the classroom on more than one occasion and threatened to fail him in some subjects.
A close friend said, “He will also call his father to complain about his activities.”
His mother was made aware of the issues on 30 June when the accused professor allegedly stopped her from taking the exam. “She was told that her appearance was low. She cried and stood outside the hall for about an hour,” her mother said, alleging that after submitting a complaint to the principal, “pressure was put” to withdraw him.

It is discovered that the college officials looking in the complaint suggested that the professor was converted to the head of the department and paid attention to his “rude” behavior towards the woman. It turns out that more than 60 students were asked about their conduct.
The woman died in Meimes Bhubaneswar late on Monday night due to burn injuries. Thousands attended his funeral on Tuesday.

“Despite adequate revival and all possible supporting management, including renal replacement therapy at Burns ICU, he could not be revived and was declared clinically dead at 11:46 pm,” a statement issued by AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
Hundreds of top district officials and local leaders gathered in their original village for rites. Later, his father said that he will continue to fight until justice is given.
