The Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities (AIMS) in Chamiyan in Shimla is set to become the first Medical Institute in Himachal Pradesh, which is to introduce surgery using state -of -the -art robotic technology. A state-of-the-art surgical robot-AIMs have come to the institute for a cost of Rs 28 crore on the lines of Delhi. The installation process is expected to be completed by July, after which robot-assisted surgery will begin.
Dr. Bridge Lal, Principal, Purpose, Chamiyana said that robot surgery will provide significant benefits to both patients and doctors. He said, “Robotic processes only require small incisions, resulting in minimal blood loss, requiring transfusion, and rapid recovery for patients. They experience less pain and are discharged soon,” they said.
Doctors will also get from technology, as robot systems increase surgical accuracy and control. “Surgeons experience less fatigue, even during prolonged operation, they are able to do more processes efficiently. Technology provides a clear, uninterrupted 3D view of narrow and complex areas within the body, which reduces the risk of errors,” Lal said.
Meanwhile, a government spokesperson said in a bid to further strengthen the healthcare infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Dr. Rajendra Prasad is ready to visit the Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda. As part of the journey, a detailed presentation will be made on the ongoing and proposed reforms in medical services and infrastructure at the institute. The spokesperson said, “CM will also engage in an interactive session with faculty members to gather feedback and suggestions, focusing on increasing healthcare delivery at this major medical institute.
