Aviation Watchdog DGCA Issue 4 Notices to Air India for various violations, India news

Aviation regulator DGCA has issued four shows notices to Air India for various violations related to cabin crew rest and duty criteria, cabin crew training rules and operating procedures, the airline said on Thursday a month after the airline made some voluntary revelations to the Watchdog.

Sources told PTI that the reason was issued by the airline on July 23 and 21 on June 20 and 21 to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) by the airline.

“We accept the receipt of these notices from the regulator related to some voluntary revelations made by Air India in the last one year. We will reply to the above notices within the stipulated period. We are committed to the safety of our crew and passengers,” said in a statement.

Sources said that three reasons notices have been issued on the basis of voluntary revelations made by Air India on 20 June, including at least four ultra long hall flights in connection with cabin crew duty and violation of the rest of the rules – operated on 27 April and on 28 April and 2 May, the sources said.

According to sources, the crew training and operating process in relation to at least four flights were also violated, including operated on 26 July 2024, October 9, 2024 and 22 April, 2025.

He said that one of the DGCA, notice related to the violations of flight duty/ weekly comfort violation in relation to flights operated on June 24, 2024 and 13 June 2025.

Based on the voluntary revelations of the airline on 21 June, another show causes notice, three examples of violations in cabin crew training and operating processes.

Sources said that the violation took place in some flights conducted on 10-11 April, February 16-May 19 and 1 December 2024.

In recent times, Air India has come under the regulatory scanner for some violations.

Meanwhile, on June 12, Air India’s Boeing 787–8 aircraft crashed in a building soon after the takeoff from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick. A total of 260 people, including 19 persons, were killed in an accident.
