The Chief Minister of Telangana on Wednesday demanded former Union Minister and former-Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, an OBC leader of Telangana, former-governor Bandaru Dattatreya, will be made the vice-president of India. He said that this post should be given to Telangana as the Telugu was the second most spoken language in the country, and justice should be done to the native speakers.
Meanwhile, he called former Vice Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar’s resignation “unfortunate”. “The next vice president should be from Telangana. Telangana is entitled to its reason. You cannot do so much injustice for the people of Telangana. Telugu is the second most spoken language in India after Hindi, and then Bengali comes. Injustice has been done for our people.
The Congress leader told reporters, “I have demanded that the NDA government appointed Bandaru Dattatreya as the next vice -president of India. If Dattaraya is made the vice -president, some of your sins would be forgiven,” the Congress leader told reporters.
Dattatreya was the Haryana Governor during 2019-2021. He was made the Governor of Himachal Pradesh in July 2021 and vacated the post on 21 July this year.
Reddy said that he proposed the name of Dattatreya as these days a lot has been talked about OBC, and OBC, Dattatreya was removed from the post of Governor. He said that the captive Sanjay was also an ax as the BJP president of Telangana, as he called these two leaders the main face of the Telugu OBC.
Attacking the BJP-led center, Reddy said, “He sent a person of Telugu-speaking person back home from Delhi (referring to former VP M Venkaiah Naidu). Then he removed Bandaru Dattatreya as governor and then Bandi Sanjay was removed as the President of Telangana BJP.”
Asked if the Congress would support Dattatreya’s candidature, he said, “I will try and help Bandaru Dattatrayya and I will also request my leadership to support my leadership as well, but the Congress leadership will take a call on it.” Reddy also alleged that the country is in danger till the NDA government comes to power, and it will have to be removed.
