Harela Bank Holidays 2025: According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar, public sector banks (PSBs) and private banking institutes will be closed on Monday, 16 July due to Harela.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) determines the bank holiday in India, which follows the negotiable instruments Act, including RTGS holidays, regional and national holidays with standard weekly days, which are the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.

“Harela” comes from the word “Hariyala”, which means “green day.”
Harela is an auspicious Hindu festival celebrated in the Kumauon region of Uttarakhand and some areas of Himachal Pradesh. It is a festival of peace, prosperity and greenery, because people pray for the formal harvesting and prosperity, coaling with formal rearing of Shiva and Parvati’s marriage.
