Before Amit Shah's visit to Chhattisgarh, Maoists news of killing 2 civilians in Bijapur village

Officials said two residents of Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh were murdered by Maoists on Saturday night, who suspected him of being a police informer. This Union Home Minister Amit Shah is ready to start his two -day visit to Chhattisgarh.

Bijapur is Chhattisgarh district which is the most affected by Maoist violenceThe state has reported 22 civilians killed by the Maoists this year and 71 last year.

The incident of Saturday night took place in Sendrobor and Yampur villages under the jurisdiction of Palm Police Station. The region is in the southern region of Bijapur, towards the Telangana border, near the region where the most dangerous battalion of the Maoists – Battalion 1 of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) is believed to be located.

A security camp, Dharmavaram, is located seven kilometers from the villages, and the police station is about 10 km away. Last year, Battalion 1 at the Dharmavaram camp injured 12 soldiers with heavy shelling and rocket launcher. The NIA has recently filed a charge sheet in the case.

An official said that a group of Maoists came to the villages late on Saturday and killed the two citizens, “they are suspected of being a police informer.”

It came a few days later when the rebels killed three other citizens in Bijapur.

The murders fall amidst a strong push by the security personnel against the Maoists, leaving the group in their weakest position. Many Maoists, including top leaders, have been killed in recent years.

The group’s Polit Bureau, its highest decision -making body, has shrunk to only three members: Mallozula Venugopal Rao alias Sonu, Thepiri Thirupathy alias Devuji, and Misir Besra alias Sagar. At the height of extremism, the Polit Bureau had at least 11–12 members. Members of the Central Committee have also dropped from 42 to 17 in 2007-08.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Chhattisgarh for a two -day visit starting on Sunday. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that he is ready to visit a meeting to visit a security camp and review the ongoing anti-maoist operations in the state.
