Bengal workers taken into custody in Chhattisgarh, Mahua Motra Targate State Government, Police | Bharat News

Nine migrant laborers of West Bengal were allegedly detained by the Kondagan police in Bastar area of Chhattisgarh, as they had been living in the district for several days without presenting documents to the local police.

While a prisoner corpus petition was filed on Monday before the Chhattisgarh High Court, the Kondagan police told The Indian Express that the workers were freed after a letter given by the district administration on Monday evening.

Kondgaon Superintendent of Police Akshay Kumar said, “He was not arrested. The action was taken under BNSS Section 128 (security for good behavior from suspected persons).

The workers are from the constituency of Krishna Nagar MP Mahua Motra in West Bengal. He alleged that it was a case of “kidnapping by the Government of Chhattisgarh and the police”.

“Nine people of my constituency were working as a mason in a private school in a private school at a private school at a construction site in Albadapada in Kondagan district. On July 12, the police came to the site where they were living and picked up. They all had valid documents. Their phones have been closed. We have received information from their family members.
