Bettress in Assam, alarm bells in Nagaland: 'Guard against illegal immigration' | Bharat News

As the Assam government has prepared for its next expulsion campaign in the neighboring Nagaland of one region, the Nagaland government has ordered a “increased vigilance” against the movement of displaced people in the state.

Following five expulsion exercises in June and July, the Assam government is preparing to conduct one and one operation in Uriyamghat in Golaghat district of East Assam, where Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma allegedly allegedly encroached for thousands of people of the Center’s land for betel nut by individuals of Central Assam. The area is the border of Vokha district of Nagaland.

In an order on July 21, the Nagaland government cited “apprehensions” that the displaced people in Assam would try to enter Nagaland, refer to them as “illegal immigrants”.

“In view of the eviction drive against illegal migrants made by the government of Assam, there is an apprehension/risk that some displaced persons may try to cross in our state. In this regard, all deputy commissioners are directed to increase vigilance to prevent any possible flow of illegal migrants within their advocates.”

The order suggests that it is necessary for “maintaining law and order” and “protecting the demographic integrity of our state”.

Nagaland’s Joint Commissioner Nokchashi, whose order was issued against the signature, told The Indian Express that the order was motivated by the preparation of eviction along the inter-state limit.

“So far, there is no record of someone entering, but the authorities concerned have been alerted to anyone,” he said.
