Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav, wife Dimple Yadav and others traveled in a line on Wednesday for a mosque near Parliament, in which the BJP accused the party of hurting religious sentiments and also criticized Dimple’s dress.
BJP leaders said that there were political meetings inside a mosque, as there was “laughter and a tea party”. The SP said, it was a “social meeting” and the BJP “was a group of people of negative mindset” that was “misleading” to divert attention from “real issues” like Bihar electoral rolls.
Akhilesh, Dimple and at least 10 other SP MPs were in the Parliament Street Mosque on Monday, when the Lok Sabha was postponed for the day. They included Dharmendra Yadav, Anand Bhadoria, Zia ur Rehman and Mohibulla Nadvi, who are also the Imam of the mosque.
After pictures of MPs – which appears to be the mosque’s prayer area, sitting inside – emerged, BJP’s minority wing chief Jamal Siddiqui said that he would have “welcome” if Akhilesh offered “Shukrana Namaz (thanks prayer). A mosque together. There was a separate section for women.” He said.
BJP Minority Wing National Vice President SM Akram said: “There is no restriction on visiting a mosque. But that area should not be used for political discussion,” he said.

When asked about the BJP’s allegations, Akhilesh told reporters, “BJP is a group of people of negative mindset. Faith is positive, it units. The BJP gets upset with anything.
Dimple told reporters: “Imam Saheb is our MP, his wife was also there, we had gone for a social (assembly), there was no meeting.” “The BJP always tries to mislead to withdraw from real issues. The government neither wants to speak on the head nor on the Pahgam attack and intelligence failure in Operation Sindor. To hide the facts, such things are being told,” he said.

Meanwhile, Akram wrote a letter to Mohibullah, stating that the BJP’s minority wing wants to hold a meeting in the mosque after Friday’s prayer of this week. The letter said, “You are requested to sit and arrange refreshments. The meeting will start with Vande Mataram and the Jan song will end with Mana.”
