“As per the information received from the Department of Revenue and Food and Civil Supplies, the Government of Tripura has officially requested the Government of India to increase the quota for Aay to get ration under AAY to the entire BRU population. As soon as the request is approved, the convenience will be extended to the entire BRU population,” SDM wrote on 20 July.
Saying that the ration relief quota was “limited” till now, SDM urged Bru leaders to end the movement as Jothanga was in a weak shape.

He said, “As a community, we have to help each other and the government is also working to expand Ai quota for the entire Bru population,” he said that the administration was also discussing at the highest level.
As a part of the Rs 600 crore rehabilitation package, BRU migrants will get 5,000 monthly ration and 5,000 monthly rupees per family for two years. Families will also get a one -time financial assistance and Rs 4 lakh for the construction of permanent houses.
