According to a supplementary charge sheet filed in a special court in Raipur by the state’s Economic Offenses Wing (EOW), Congress leader and former minister of Chhattisgarh population, Kavasi Lakhma allegedly earned Rs 64 crore for Rs 2,161 crore.
Six -time MLA from Konta in Sukma district, Lakhma was the Excise Minister in the state’s Congress government between 2019 and 2023. He was Arrested by ED on 15 January this year,
According to the ED, the alleged scam was orchestrated by a crime syndicate between 2019-22, which removed the illegal commission with excise duty authorities and made unauthorized sale of unauthorized liquor through government shops.
Chhattisgarh Eve has arrested 13 people in the case and filed four charge sheet (three of them). It was the first time against Lakhma in Monday’s charge sheet case. A statement said that under his safety, a well -planned scam was executed through departmental officers, colleagues and contractors … It has been proved that Mr. Kaswasi Lakhma has received Rs 64 crore as his share as a result of the excise scam.
Sushil Anand Shukla, head of communication for Chhattisgarh for Chhattisgarh, said, “From the first day, the matter was manipulated by the ED and two years later, when he did not find anything, Eve started investigating it. His only intention is harassing our leaders and defaming our leaders …”
