Congress name 40 district, city unit head for Gujarat. Bharat News

After a procedure, which lasted for more than two months and senior Congress leaders visited 26 Lok Sabha constituencies, 182 assembly segments, and 235 blocks, appointing 40 heads of district and city units for Gujarat under the ‘Sangthan Srijan Abhiyan’ on Saturday.

Only one female leader, Sonal Patel, was seen in the list, who will be the head of the unit of Ahmedabad city. Patel, former Congress vice -president woman Morcha was a candidate against Union Home Minister Amit Shah in 2024 LS Pols from Gandhinagar constituency. She replaces the former Mayor and East-Mauli Himat Singh Patel. “The president of the city of Ahmedabad is a situation that lifts a lot of weight,” said a Congress leader.

At least five presidents of DCC were repeated – Rutwiz Joshi (Vadodara City), Jashpalsinha Padiyar (Vadodara district), Naushad Solanki (Surendranagar), Pratap Dudhat (Amreli), and Rajendrasinh Rana (Bharuch City).

The party said the newly appointed DCC chief “represents the social and regional diversity of Gujarat and has been chosen for their grassroots connections, ideological clarity and organizational capacity”.

In the AICC session on 9-10 April in Gujarat held in the state for the first time in nearly 60 years, district units were identified as major construction blocks for the construction of Congress’s back-up. While it is a nationwide project, the Congress launched a pilot from Gujarat, a state where the party has now been out of power for 30 years and is most closely recognized with modi after the rise of BJP.

On April 12, the party appointed 43 AICC and 183 PCC supervisors, including senior leaders, including state in-charge, MPs, MLAs and former PCC presidents, to maintain appointments and recommends for high command of the party.

A statement issued by Congress General Secretary in-charge (organization) KC Venugopal on Saturday night said: “The campaign was launched to revive the party structure from booth to district level, which focuses on transparent, inclusive and ideology-based leadership selection.”
