Tripura Congress young leader Shahjahan Mia was attacked late on Sunday night when he criticized the state government and police, who was for his alleged silence on some incidents focused on alleged cow slaughter on Eid-al-Aadha or Bacrid in Gomti district on Saturday.
In a video on his social media page, Mia can be heard out in the Tripura government and police, who have allegedly failed to stand for those who allegedly disrupted the customary animal slaughter on Bacrid. He was also heard insulting Chief Minister Manik Saha, and called the minority leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “deception”, and urged Muslims to “socially boycott” from the community who are serving as leaders in the saffron party.
His remarks gave rise to online controversy, and several nebisens, including BJP workers, demanded action against the Congress leader. The ruling BJP filed a complaint against Mia at the East Agartala police station late on Sunday night.
When Mia’s house was attacked in Shantipara area of Agartala, the police soon reached the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.
In his statement to the police, Mia said that as soon as he returned home from the Congress office, he was attacked by a band of goons. He also alleged that the attackers, who were allegedly branding firearms, wanted to kill them, but they locked themselves inside a room. He said that the group later attacked his parents and wife.
Congress Working Committee (CWC) member and MLA Sudeep Roy Burman, Tripura State Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, and others later visited his house.
Roy Burman condemned the attack on Mia’s house, and said he would ask for justice from the court. He said, “He (Shahjahan) launched a political attack on the Chief Minister in a Facebook Live yesterday. He had an outbreak on many incidents of focused attacks on Eid yesterday. It is very well, these attacks occurred. But these attacks are at his residence next to a mosque, who are running with a fascist government. He (CM).

He demanded immediate arrest and legal action against those who claimed that they were involved in the attack on Mia’s house. He said that legal action will be initiated against everyone involved in such attacks, either or later.
Chief Minister Saha’s family was located in Shantipara. State Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha lives in the same area, and Mia was dropped from the party office last night at his house.
The incident of Sunday occurred when clashes were reported on the Bacrid celebrated a day earlier at different places in Udaipur in Gomti district. A cow was publicly detained to allegedly slay a cow near a water body in the Chauan area of Udaipur. A similar incident occurred in Rajnagar area of Udaipur, where a minority family was accused of killing a cow in the open.
In a separate incident, a group of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists intercepted a vehicle filled with some cattle, and handed them over to West Argartala police station, suspected that animals were being transported illegally. However, cattle owners claimed that they had valid documents of sales and ownership.

In February 2022, the Tripura High Court ordered the state government to ban the sale of meat products on public places and roads and stated that Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) should prepare a long -term plan to establish slaughterhouses and slaughterhouses and to ensure proper and scientifically and scientifically and scientifically ensure waste disposal.
