Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge on Monday raised the issue of large -scale cutting of trees in Chhattisgarh forests and called upon the people of the state to unite in the fight to protect their “water, forest and land (water, forest, land)”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is destroying the lives of our tribal brothers and people of Chhattisgarh … Many corporates are coming here to rob minerals like coal and iron … and Modi and Shah are supporting them.”

“Our water, forest and land need to be preserved and so we need to unite … They (BJP) say that we (Draupadi) President of Murmu, (Ram Nath) Kovind President, but why? To steal our resources, our resources, our forest, water and land. Today there are people like Adani and Ambani.”

Targeting Shah, who has visited Chhattisgarh several times since 2024, to take stock of anti-Maoist operations, Kharge said, “Why (Amit) Shah is coming again and again … not to see his position, not to see his position, but to find out where Iron, Steel and Coal. Kharge accused the state government of not providing diamond phosphate (DAP) fertilizer to farmers, not taking steps to check the rising prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, which did not provide minimum support price (MSP) on forest produce like the previous Congress government, did not work on the reservation bill passed by the previous government. He alleged that the BJP was trying to intimidate “all” in the country and misuse the central investigative agencies against its opponents.

While hitting PM Modi, Kharge said that he has time to travel to foreign countries, but does not have time to go to Manipur, which has been watching ethnic clashes since May 2023.

He said, “BJP is trying to intimidate our leaders using central agencies like ED and IT, but we will never be afraid. Our party leaders are being harassed in Chhattisgarh including former CM (Bagel),” he told the gathering.

Kharge said, “He (BJP) (Congress leaders) tried to implicate Sonia Gandhi and Rahul ji in the National Herald case. They always try to discredit the Congress.”

The Congress president said that the BJP makes a lot of promises before the elections, but forgets them after coming to power.
