The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday called for nationwide protests against the ongoing special intensive amendment (SIR) in Bihar, called it a ‘back -door’ approach to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercises.
In a statement after the Polit Bureau meeting on 18 July, the CPI (M) expressed concern over Bengali speaking migrants in various states and reported expulsion in Assam.
The Left Party criticized the Election Commission for trying to verify the citizenship of voters under the guise of amending the electoral role, stating that the action is beyond its constitutional right.
CPI (M) said, “Under the baseless excuse to get foreigners out of the electoral rolls, they are separating the huge sections of minorities and other select groups.”
“The NRC practice, which was widely opposed by the people before the Kovid epidemic, is demanded to be implemented through the back door. EC, which worked in favor of the BJP -led government till now, is now complicated in implementing the RSS/Sangh Parivar Agenda,” the party said.

Describing these works as an attack on democratic rights, CPI (M) urged a protests across the country on August 8.
The CPI (M) also claimed that the reports of “targeted attacks on Bengali speaking people” are emerging from many BJP ruled states, such as Delhi, Odisha, Assam, Haryana, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

He said, “Bengalis are being recognized and branded as Bangladeshis without any proper verification of their documents. Such individuals are being detained by the police and subjected to inhuman misuse and torture,” he said.
The statement mentions, “There are examples of people (including Indian citizens) for force back into Bangladesh, both through the land and even via the sea route, further mentioned in the statement.
In violation of these developments of freedom of freedom of movement to all citizens by the Indian Constitution, CPI (M) demanded an immediate ban to protect the rights of these “illegal prevention” and citizens.
Accusing the Assam government of ousting a large number of people from their right land, the Left party said, “BJP and RSS are trying to take advantage of ethnic differences in various northern Eastern states, which will harm the unity and integrity of our country to create partitions and establish their dominance, especially a long international border.

Additionally, the CPI (M) asked to revoke the Maharashtra Public Safety Bill, arguing that extremely leftist forces and vague definitions of similar organizations allow the targeting of any opposition group.
The party demanded immediate steps for the restoration of the state to Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need to respect the mandate of those elected to the state government.
In the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, the CPI (M) said it would try to raise other opposition parties in Parliament to vote against various bills, including mines and minerals (development and regulation) amendment bills, as well as civil liability for the Nuclear Energy Act and Atomic Damage Act.
In addition, the party expressed concern about the government’s proposed trade deals with the US and the European Union, urging the Center to consult stakeholders before starting on ‘FTA Signing Spree’.
