As the eviction drive in Assam intensifies, the state government said on Tuesday that it has organized Surfaced on 160 sq km of land Impressing around 50,000 people in the last four years, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying that a purpose is to stem “demographic attack” by “people of a religion”.
In the last month, the Assam government has Five major expulsions held In four districts, in which at least 3,300 families have been removed from forest land, grazing land and government revenue land.
On Wednesday, Sarma mentioned “Land Jihad” and said “has started an attempt to change the demographics of upper Assam”.
He said that since his government came to power in 2021, it has evicted more than 1.19 lakh land. The highest area is of forest land in 84,743 bigha, VGR/PGR (grazing land) accounts for more than 36,000 bighas, ‘special’ or general government land is 26,713 bighas, and land belonging to religious institutions is 4,449 bighas.
Saying that about 50,000 people have been evicted, Himanta said that the district administration has been tasked to strike the names of the affected persons from the voter list of the place from where they were evicted. The objective, he said, “Assamese constituencies have to protect.”

“His name (his) is his name in the voter list of the original village. You cannot have a name in two places. Once they are evicted and go to the house, DC will have to remove the name from voter lists. Our job is that they can protect the Assamese constituency or local indigenous constitutions. Indian or proper citizens are, but the repetition will be cut,” said.
He mentioned a eviction campaign organized in Lakhimpur district earlier this month – a upper Assam house for many tribal and ethnic Assamese communities such as Missing, Deori and Tai Ahom – in which about 220 families were evicted. He claimed that out of those, 64 were migrated from Barpeta, 36 from Nagaon, and the rest from Golpara, Kachar and South Salamara-Manchachar.

“A conspiracy began to replace Jonogthony (demographics) in Lakhimpur district, which we were able to stop … In the next 20 years, if Assamese people do not disrupt it, then wherever there is a forest, there will be no forest cover, and it is still the people of Bengal.
“After the demographic invasion in the lower Assam and Central Assam, we are seeing the beginning of the demographic invasion in the upper Assam today. If we could initially see the demographic attack of the lower Assam and Central Assam, we could probably stop it. After voting 40,000-45,000, they become a political power, local leadership does not allow any evacuation.
