A railway official said that a goods train carrying diesel caught fire and spread to other wagons near Thiruvallur on Sunday morning.
He said that no casualties have been done.

The fire tender has been taken to the spot and overhead power supply for train services has been suspended.
“As a precautionary measure, local train services have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure. In addition, 8 express trains have been canceled and 5 other trains have been diverted and 8 trains have been made short -term.”
The cause of the fire is not immediately known, the official said.
