Amid speculation of a cabinet reshuffle in Goa, state Social Welfare Minister Subash Fal Desai said that despite receiving the “Chiller” departments, he performed well and believed that he would not be removed from the cabinet.
Phal Dessai, who also holds archives, river navigation and archaeological portfolio, was answering questions from the media on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle and was it under any pressure.
“I have been a loyal soldier of the party for the last 25-30 years. I have worked in various positions in the party-from a booth member to Mandal president. I started my career as a punch member, then became a member of the Zilla Panchayat and then an MLA,” an MLA.
On rumors that he could be appointed the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the case of reshuffle, he said, “If I was appointed a speaker, how will the organization be benefited? I can be a junior minister, but I have the ability to perform. I am working tirelessly. If such a person is given a decorative status, it will not harm for the party?”
Fal Desai said that he has worked on several fronts for the party, including election campaigns in organization and other states. “This is the first time I was made a minister. I have not found any attractive portfolio. Even though I was given a Chiller Portfolio, you can see that I have performed in all portfolio, including river navigation, social welfare, archives and archaeological,” he said.
He said, “I don’t think I will be removed from the cabinet as a reward to work for the organization. I am confident that I will not be removed from the cabinet,” he said.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant dropped the former Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaud from the cabinet on 18 June, almost three weeks later Goud accused the tribal welfare department of corruption, a portfolio organized by a portfolio.
