The mortal remains of former Kerala Chief Minister and veteran CPI (M) leader vs Achuthanandan, who died on Monday at the age of 101, were taken to the Durbar Hall at the State Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.
The body will lie in the state in the hall by noon, before the cortage leaves for its house, Alappuzha, where the leader, the last of the founders of CPI (M) in 1964, Funeral will be performed on Wednesday with state honor,
In the Durbar Hall, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, his cabinet colleague, CPI (M) general secretary MA Baby, former General Secretary Prakash Karat, party state secretary MV Govindan and other political leaders paid tribute to him.
Achuthanandan, who worked as the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011, had stayed away from public life since 2019 after suffering from stroke. Last month, he was admitted to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram after a heart attack and was on support until he died.
On Monday night, his body was taken to the house of his son or Arunkumar in Barton Hill in the city. Senior CPI (M) leaders, including CM Vijayan, were present at home in the morning, before the body was taken in a procession in the Durbar Hall, where thousands of people from a cross-section of the society were queuing up to give a red salute to Achuthanandan.

In the afternoon, the body will be taken to Alappuzha, 140 km from the state capital via the road. The low-genre bus decorated with a flower has been converted into a horsepower to carry the body Alappuzha. N Marg, people will get a chance to get the final glimpse of the leader, from the beginning of 2000 to the CPI (M) crowd for two decades, who was also the opposition leader for three conditions-1991–1996, 2001-2006 and 2011-2016.
In Alappuzha, the body will be taken to Velikakathu home of Achuthanandan in Pannpara late at night. On Wednesday afternoon, the body will be taken to the Valiyachudukadu Dafan Ground in Alappuzha, who revolt against the rest of the 1946 Pannapra-Vayalar martyrs and revolt against the landlords and colonial rule.
