Helicopter for Kedarnath makes emergency landing on Uttarakhand highway after technical snag

According to DGCA, the helicopter belonging to Crestle Aviation Private Limited developed a technical obstacle during the take-off on Saturday afternoon. District Tourism Development Officer, Rahul Choubey said that the pilot made an emergency landing on the nearby road, realizing the situation of time, which led to a big accident.

He said, “The pilot suffered minor injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital. On receiving information about the incident, the district administration sent a team to the site. Efforts are underway to remove the helicopter from the road, and traffic is being restored normally,” he said.

Choubey said that the helicopter was taking off the board with five passengers in Barsu for Kedarnath Dham with his Aadhaar with five passengers and the pilot saw an empty road stretch nearby to complete an emergency landing. The state government said in a statement, “All five passengers aboard the helicopter are safe. The incident has not affected the ongoing Heli shuttle services.”

UCADA CEO, Sonika, said that the Government of Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) of Uttarakhand has been included in 2013 to develop civil aviation sector in the state. He said, “AAIB instructed to remove the helicopter from the road. Prima Feshi, the situation arose after the control input of the helicopter. A investigation is going on during the take off.”

In May, five passengers and a pilot died when a helicopter he was traveling in a gorge, while on the way to Gangotri, one of the Char Dham temples. The operators, including private people, ply pilgrims, are included at pilgrims and other places across the state and are monitored by UCADA.
