ICRISAT launched Agri Co-Oop Center for Global South

The International Crop Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics and Research and Information System for Developing Country (RIS) on Tuesday launched a new center of excellence for change of agriculture in developing countries through South-South cooperation.

New Center-ICRISAT Center of Excellence for South-South Cooperation in Agriculture (ISSCA)-Located in Hyderabad, will serve as a catalyst to translate agricultural solutions into scalable effects.

In a press meeting, RIS Director General Sachin Chaturvedi said that this center would take the experience of India’s development to other developing countries. This will democratization of agricultural knowledge and translate experience into policy. Sharing an example of cooperation between countries, Chaturvedi said that Ethiopia and Kenya have approached RIS, demanding support for institutional structure for the growth of private seed industry in their countries.
