Constant rains in Northeast India, death toll cross 30

The serious weather conditions continue to catch the north-east because rain-inspired floods and landslides wreak havoc claiming at least 36 lives.

With more than 5.5 lakh people affected by continuous rains in several states in the region, Assam reported the highest death of 11, followed by 10 deadly in Arunachal Pradesh, six in Meghalaya, six in Mizoram, five in Mizoram, three in Sikkim and one in Tripura.

In the next seven days, the situation remains important with continuing the prediction of IMD in the region.

IMD warned, “Light or moderate rainfall at most places occurs in the next 7 days with a huge decline on 3 June in north -east India and later during 24 hours.”

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Lakhimpur district, which is one of the worst areas of the region and assured that the affected people would be provided possible assistance.

Schools in AIZAWL catch this area to remain closed as monsoon

Aizawl schools were closed for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday due to extreme weather conditions on Tuesday, which keep catching the region.

The schools within the district were advised to suspend the attendance of students to ensure their safety and welfare.

Earlier, schools were closed for three days, May 29, 30 and 2 June 2 due to heavy rains.
