Maoists of two women were closed by security forces in an encounter in Abujamad on Wednesday night in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that anti -revolt operations will continue during the monsoon. Operations are usually suspended as the rainfall intensifies.
A joint team of District Reserve Guards from Narayanpur and Kondagan with Special Task Force (STF) performed the operation after receiving intelligence reports on the presence of Maoist cadres in the forest.
The bodies of two Maoists have been found so far. Police claim that they found an INS Rifle and a .315 gun, some medicines and “Naxal material” in their possession.
It takes the total number of Maoists killed in Chhattisgarh to 214, out of which 197 have been killed in Bastar region alone. Last year, 219 Maoists were killed in Chhattisgarh, including 217 in Bastar.
During this visit to Chhattisgarh on 22 June, Union Minister Shah warned that the anti -rebellion would continue the monsoon. He said: “I want to say this to the people of Chhattisgarh before leaving … Every year during the rainy season, the Naxalites used to relax. But this time, we will not allow them to sleep even during the rain, and will proceed to achieve the target of our March 2026.”
Shah also appealed to the Maoists. “I again appeal to all the youth who have been misled and joined the Naxal movement to surrender under the attractive surrender policy. Leave your weapons and join the path of development of Chhattisgarh. You will never get better opportunities. There is no need to discuss. There is no need to discuss. Believe in the government, leave your weapons and join the mainstream.”
