Agriculture and dairy sectors are difficult and challenging areas for India to give duty concession to the US. India has not opened dairy in any of its free trade treaty signed so far.
America seeks some industrial goods, automobiles – especially electric vehicles, wine, petrochemical products, dairy and agricultural commodities such as apples, tree nuts and duty concessions on genetically modified crops.
The India proposed trade treaty is seeking duties for labor-intensive areas like textiles, gems and jewels, leather items, textiles, plastic, chemicals, shrimp, oil seeds, grapes and bananas.
