Stress held the Pukho Latanpokpi area of Imphal East District in Manipur on Sunday morning when a conflict between Metei and Cookie-Zo communities in connection with an alleged dispute over a farm land.
The Manipur police said that to thwart any unwanted incidents, additional security forces including the State Police, BSF and CRPF reached the spot, and are currently stationed in and around the area.
The official account of the Manipur Police on X states: “A meatti farmer from Latanpokpi, with a tractor, with a tractor, with a tractor, in a Kuki village near a Kuki village. Some cookie villagers said that the Nazadis are also saying that some Matos are not there.”
The post also said: “The public is requested not to believe in rumors.”
Police said in one of the alleged videos that went viral, two warning communities were seen using catapults and stones on each other, as BSF personnel tried to control the situation.

While there are reports of some injuries during the confrontation, there is no official confirmation on the number of injured.
Leitanpokpi, mainly on the peak shore of Meitei district, Imphal East, is a district of Saikal sub-division in Kangpokpi district, the border of Saikal sub-division-one cookie-Joo. The region was one of the worst affected districts during the ethnic conflict in the state which broke on May 3, 2023.
