Police said at least four people, including a 72 -year -old woman, were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Charachandpur district of Manipur on Monday.
A police officer said that the ambush took place near Mongjang village around 2 pm when the victims were traveling in a car. Mongjang is about 7 km from Charachandpur city.
Preliminary reports suggested that he was shot from a point-tanned limit, said another official at Charachandpur district headquarters.
Sources said the deceased was identified as Thekhathang Hawkip aka Thapi (48), Seihogin (34), Lenghao (35) and Falling (72). More than 12 vacant shells were recovered from the spot.
No organization has claimed the responsibility of the attack so far. Police and additional security forces have been taken to the area.
