The government said on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United Kingdom and Maldives from 23 July to 26 July. While India and the UK are likely to signed the free trade agreement (FTA) during the visit, Modi will be the guest of honor at the Maldives’ Independence Day celebrations.
This will be Modi’s first visit to both countries after a change in leadership.
A statement said in a statement, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay the official visit to the United Kingdom from 23-24 July 2025 on the invitation of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,” said.
“During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold extensive discussions with the Prime Minister’s stormer through the entire gamut of the India-UK bilateral relations. They will also consider issues of regional and global importance. There are relations with education and people with people,” said this.
This will be Modi’s fourth visit in the UK, but came to power since the starrer came to power after leading Labor Landslide to end the 14 -year conservative rule in July last year. Since then, the two leaders have met one or two times on the occasion of multilateral meetings – at the G20 summit at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in November last year, and in June this year, the G7 Leaders Summit in Canada in Canada in June this year.

While the Indo-UK Free Trade Agreement was finalized in May this year, the treaty is expected to be signed during Modi’s visit. FTA, finalized after a three -year conversation, is expected to benefit 99 percent of Indian exports from tariffs and it will make it easier for British firms to export whiskey, cars and other products to India, in addition to promote overall trade baskets.
In the second phase of his visit, Modi will go to Maldives for the first time after President Mohammad Muizu came to power in November 2023. “Prime Minister Modi will be ‘Guest of Honor’ at the 60th anniversary ceremony of independence of Maldives on 26 July.

This will mark a change in the relationship that began on a collision note. Earlier, Muizu had asked India to withdraw Indian military personnel associated with aviation platforms – two choppers and one aircraft – and they were to be replaced by technical personnel. Muizu visited India in October last year, and the two sides carried forward the relationship. The purpose of Modi’s visit will be to take it forward.
