A few hours after Vice President Jagdeep Dhikar announced his resignation, citing health concerns, the Congress on Tuesday morning said that it is “a fact that there are very deep reasons for his resignation”.
Congress Rajya Sabha member and communication in -charge Jairam Ramesh said that Dhankhar’s resignation “speaks highly”. Ramesh said in a post on X, “It also talks bad to those who chose him as Vice President in the first example.”
Ramesh said at 12.30 pm on Monday afternoon, Dhankhar presided over the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Rajya Sabha. Ramesh said, “Most of the members participated in it, which included the House Leader, JP Nadda, and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju. After a brief discussion, it was decided that the next meeting of the committee would be held again at 4:30 pm.”
The Congress leader said that the members of the committee gathered again for the meeting headed by Dhankhar at 4.30 pm, and waited for Nad and Rijiju, but they did not show.
“They never came. Mr. Jagdeep Dhankar was not personally informed that both senior ministers were not participating. Well, he resumed the BAC at 1 pm today and something was very serious from 1 pm today.
Ramesh said that “in the really unprecedented step, Mr. Jagdeep Dhankar has resigned”. The Congress MP said, “They have given reasons for health to do so. He should be respected. But it is also a fact that there are deep reasons for his resignation.”
“Always appreciated India after 2014, he spoke fearlessly for the welfare of farmers, when he called ‘Ahankar’ in public life, and firmly on judicial accountability and restraint.
