Police said on Saturday that one person was killed and some others were feared to be trapped after a part of the coal mine collapsed during “illegal” mining in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. The incident occurred in the early hours in the Karma area of the district. An administrative team has been sent for relief and rescue operations, he said.
Ashutosh Kumar Singh, in -charge of the Kuju police post, told PTI, “A body has been recovered so far and the rescue operation is going on, as more people are suspected to be trapped.” He said that some rural site was involved in “illegal” mining of coal.
Ramgarh Deputy Commissioner (DC) Faiz Ak Ahmed Mutz told PTI: “We got information about the morning incident. An administrative team has been sent to the spot to investigate the matter.”
