On Monday, at least two people were killed and 16 were injured in a reactor blast in a chemical factory in Sangaredeedi district of Telangana. The explosion took place, it was a duty hour in the Sigachi Chemicals Industry in Pashmilram, and many people are still stuck inside, Sangardi police said.

A police source said, “Some of the rescued people are seriously injured. We have not ascertained how many people are trapped inside.” The Indian ExpressFire officials said that eleven fire tenders have been sent to the spot for rescue and relief operations.

A district administration official said, “Fire fighting operation is going on and people are still trapped in the building.”

While the ruling Congress government has not issued a formal statement, Telangana opposition leader and BRS executive president KT Ram Rao said, “Reactor explosion in Pas Mileram Industrial Area in Patrenu is extremely tragic. I urge the authorities that they are trapped with the accident. I ask for the government and I ask for the government to conduct a close investigation into the incident.
