Operation Sindoor informed the world with great clarity that India would work against terrorism, in a statement with the UN Security Council, the Foreign Minister said in a statement that those responsible for the Pahgam attacks would be brought for justice.
Jaishankar said during a press conference in Washington on Wednesday, “What is important for us in the quad statement, as on April 25, the Security Council issued that terrorism criminals should be held accountable. They should be brought for justice.”
“And this is important because we have to communicate with the world that we did. On May 7, the aim of Operation Sindoor is that if there are terrorist attacks, we will work against criminals, supporters, financers and ambitions. So I think the message, I think the message,” he said.
A joint statement issued by Quad Foreign Ministers-Jayashankar, US State Secretary Marco Rubio, Australia Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Evea-Ne all of their forms and manifestations condemned all acts of terrorism and violent extremism, including cross-border terrorism.
Quad Foreign Ministers condemned the “strongest conditions” in Pahgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 people.
The joint statement said, “We bring criminals, organizers and financers of this condemnable act for justice without any delay and urge all UN member states, as per their obligations under international law and relevant UNSCRS (United Nations Security Council proposals), to actively collaborate with all relevant officers in this regard,”
The statement by the press of the United Nations Security Council condemned the Pahalgam attack, in which members of the Security Council underlined the need to make criminals, organizers, financers and sponsors responsible for this condemnable work of terrorism and to bring justice to them.

Council members insisted that those responsible for these killings should be held accountable.
India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting Terror Infrastructure in retaliation for the Pehalgam attack in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which was claimed by the Resistance Front (TRF), a front for the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-E-Toba (late).
Jaishankar said that he along with his counterparts, along with the quad, globally, The Nature of the Terrorism Challenge which has faced India and faced India in many decades, and “We are very strong to answer very strongly today and we have the right to defend ourselves”.
In addition to the quad discussions, Jaishankar said that he held a good bilateral meeting with Rubio and the two leaders “essentially stock-baking of the last six months” and the path seen forward.
He said, “This included a discussion on trade and investment, technology, defense and security, energy and dynamics,” he said that his defense secretary Peat Hegseth and Energy Secretary Chris Wright had separate meetings.

On a question on a plan to impose 500 percent tariff on imports from countries buying Russian oil under a bill by Senator Lindsay Graham, Jaishankar said that any development in the US Congress is interested in India “if it affects our interest or can affect our interest”.
The Indian embassy and officials are in touch with Graham on the issue, he said.
“I think our concerns in energy security and our interests have been interacted with him. So when we come near it, we have to cross that bridge,” Jayashankar said.
