The Odisha police on Monday detained four people for allegedly raping a minor trainee of the hockey training center.
According to officials, two accused are coaches. He was booked under the protection of children from the Indian Justice Section 70 (2) (gang rape), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), 74 (criminal force against a woman), 3 (5) (general intentions), as well as under the protection of children from the Secure Offection (POCSO) Act.
“As soon as we received a complaint from the victim, we formed a special team and detained four persons. They are being questioned and further action will be taken according to the law,” said SP Yashprapp Sharimal. The accused is likely to be formally arrested on Tuesday.
Officials said the police have recorded the victim’s statement and will conduct a medical examination soon.
Police sources said on July 3, the accused allegedly raped her after the trainee raped her forcibly took her to a lodge, while she was returning home after training. Sources said that the accused also threatened to kill him. If he told his family about the incident, the sources said.
