Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced a pre -Rs 20 lakh Gratia for the college student’s family, who died on fire with alleged inaction on the complaint of his sexual harassment.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Maje directed to conduct a proper inquiry into the incident, so that all the convicts can be punished according to the law.
Governor Hari Babu Kamhampati also expressed grief over the death of the student.
He said in a post on X, “Fakir Mohan was shattered to learn about the untimely loss of a young student of Autonomous College. His death is not just a tragedy – it is a clear reminder of the immediate need to keep our complexes safe,” he said in a post on X.
He said, “The law will take its most difficult curriculum. Those responsible people will have to face unrelated punishment. My heart goes out for a sad family. They can get strength in this hour of unbearable pain,” he said.

The funeral of the student’s body, demands rural action
The body of a college student who was unbroken after alleged sexual harassment by a professor was preserved on Tuesday for flames in a crematorium in his village in Balasore district of Odisha.
The brother of a 20 -year -old woman’s cousin, including BJP Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi, burnt the funeral pyre in the crematorium in the village in the presence of thousands of people, including thousands of people and senior officials of the district administration.
Local people talked about a tear for a brave woman, who lost the battle for justice and was not leaving the alleged demand of the college teacher.

Thousands of people emphasized the cremation ground to participate in the crematorium.
“My daughter has taught me to fight and I will continue it. I don’t need money or pre-Gratia. I want my daughter back. Can the government give me back to my child,” the woman’s father said with the woman’s father dropping down her cheeks.
“Please forgive me. I am speechless,” the student’s mother said that her demands were asked.
The student died in Meimes Bhubaneswar on Monday night after struggling for life for about 60 hours. Officials said that his body was sent to the village after the postmortem examination in the hospital.

Local people demanded strict action against the convicts responsible for the student’s death.
A local villager said that the deceased students were active during natural disasters, especially during floods. A villager from the Basta region said, “She used to help the administration transfer women to safe places during the floods,” said.
“We don’t believe that she would commit suicide. She was a mentally strong and brilliant student. She was my student. She was forced to commit suicide by setting herself on fire to be deprived of justice,” said a teacher of the crematorium.
The grandfather of the deceased student said that the government failed to give him justice for which he ended his life. Another villager said that she had contacted all the MLAs with the Union Minister.
